So, if what Coach Ford has accomplished is not acceptable, what is?
Here is my thoughts:
Personality that wins over the entire fan base, recruits, former players, donors, and mends fences with the Iba / Sutton factions.
Style of ball and in game bench coaching that is respected from the fan base and that will put butts in seats.
Conference championship once every 6 years
Finishing in the top 4 of the conference 80% of the time
At least a .500 record against OU
Selected to the NCAA tournament 80% of the time - So, over a 10 year period that would be 8 NCAA tournaments, goal should be with 8 NCAA selections: 1 Elite Eight, 3 Sweet 16's, 6 wins in the round of 64 which is now the second round due to the first round consisting of the "First Four", 2 one and done.
When we look down the road with this new hire, how will they be evaluated? What is success suppose to look like and how do we know we achieved it? What do we think is reasonable for a coach at OSU? Are the minimum expectations outlined above not ambitious enough? Are they overly ambitious? Thought I would throw out a starting point for discussion, any coach that achieves what I outlined above as minimum expectations would be the 3rd best Coach in OSU history. Thoughts?
