Done! What do you think is next? What deaths are perm?Maybe change the title to "Avengers 4 [May3, 2019] (Avengers 3 spoilers)" so we can discuss the current movie and speculate for the next???
@tlwwake
I would say the same thing if I wanted to make sure everyone saw this movie in theaters instead of waiting for the dvd to come out. From an ComicBook.com interview with Joe Russo
“I don’t think there are any comics that correlate to it,” Joe Russo said. “I think we’re in pretty fresh territory with Avengers 4. If anything, I think it’s interesting after to go back and look at some of the Marvel films and view them through a different lens. But I can’t think of any comics in particular that would have value.”
If Groot disappears at the end does that mean that Thor will lose his handle also?
Finally saw infinity war.
I'm pretty convinced that Dr. Stange's comment to Stark about 'the only way' (right before he turned to dust) is a clear indication that the one scenario he saw for them to beat Thanos involved Thanos getting the stones and thinking he had succeeded.
I'm not totally sure how it will play out in full, but I think most, if not all, of the heroes will be 'resurrected' through some bizarre means in Avengers 4. Probably due to some aspect or use of the stones themselves.
My only question is, when the full arc plays out, will they succeed in destroying the stones to permanently end the threat they pose. My guess is at least one will remain, but I suspect at least some are destroyed.
Finally saw it Sunday.
I thought the same about "thiis is the only way" . It wasn't just, "giving him the time stone" is the only way, but Letting him succeed is the only way.
Also, is Thanos dead? He wakes up with a young Gamora, and tells her it cost him everything. Are he and gamora dead and their souls are in the soul stone? Are ALL of those that vanished in the soul stone? I thought it was interesting that outside of Rocket and Nebula, Everone introduced after the attack on NY, the 1st Avengers, is dead, but all of the original Avengers are alive.
If Thanos IS dead, does that mean the gauntlet is sitting wherever he warped to? Do the remaining Avengers figure out how to use it to turn back time?
Dr Strange quotes....
Dr. Stephen Strange: [to Stark] If it comes to saving you, or the kid, or the Time Stone, I will not hesitate to let either of you die.
****************************************
Dr. Stephen Strange: I went forward in time... to view alternate futures. To see all the possible outcomes of the coming conflict.
Peter Quill: How many did you see?
Dr. Stephen Strange: Fourteen million six hundred and five.
Tony Stark: How many did we win?
Dr. Stephen Strange: ...One.
*********************************************
Dr. Stephen Strange: Tony... there was no other way.
[turns into dust and blows away]
Dr Strange knows that there is only one way they defeat Thanos, and it involved Thanos getting his hands on all 6 gems and snapping his fingers.
As to exactly where Thanos is now, I don't have a guess, but I do think he has the damaged Infinity Gauntlet with him. (It was smoking and broken after he snapped his fingers the first time).
My guess is that they get Dinklage's character to make a new Infinity Gauntlet, and somehow find a way to get to where Thanos is currently and steal back the stones so they can reverse what he did with his finger snap.
The question is, with Dr Strange gone, how do they cross into whatever realm Thanos is in at the end of the movie?
-Maybe Ant Man can get there from the Quantum Realm? They did say that time works differently there and that it is a realm that has connections to other realities.
-Maybe Wong can use his spells to get them to Thanos?
-Maybe Thor can open a gateway to another realm since he is able to control Bifrost with his new weapon.
-Maybe Captain Marvel has the ability to move between realms.
I can't think of any other possibilities.
The fact that Fury 'paged' Cap Marvel is certainly important. The CM movie should give several clues why she would be critical to undoing what Thanos did.
From a story perspective, having Scott and CM serve irreplaceable roles in fixing things would be compelling IMHO.
Are you suggesting that Fury knew why he was turning to ash, and that CM knew how to save the day?
I assumed that he knew shit had really hit the fan and it was time to call the most powerful entity he knew.
Of course, that leads to the question...why didn’t he page her during the other Avengers movie doomsday scenarios?
As for your last question, I think they have some work to do to explain her absence in a way that makes sense.
My presumption is the latter. I was only implying that the story telling technique of placing that in the tag implies that she will be a critical component.

Is her movie set in the 90's? Figured it was a prequel of sorts, but may be she time hopped there. Explains why she would use a pager to communicate with modern Nick.
I took it as Dr. Strange saw that only Tony Stark could defeat Thanos or maybe end it at some point. He only offered up the stone when Tony was about to be killed. If Dr. Strange knew that Thanos needed the stone then why all the theatrics in trying to get the gauntlet? Why wouldn't he just offer up the Stone earlier. Why would he wait until Tony was about to die.Dr Strange quotes....
