Seems as long as one is a Democrat you can be convicted of a crime sentenced to prison and still avoid going to jail. Heck if you are friends with Hunter, you can be convicted of crimes four years ago, sentenced to prison and still not go to jail. Now compare that to what those still being held in Washington DC without trial merely for participating in a protest that got out of hand. Nothing like a double standard in our Justice system.

His defense attorneys are claiming double jeopardy on a technicality with Kim Fox in the first ‘settlement’. JD could explain the particulars

Honestly, I don’t know enough about the appeal or Illinois law to say I could comment/explain.

Based upon what you said, maybe it’s the “Cosby defense” that a deal was made with a prior prosecutor that keeps a second from prosecuting.

Lots of people get appeal bonds in non-violent first time felony convictions. That’s not all that unusual.
