whatcha got? Pics? Specs?

I always liked the original Vietmam era rifle so I picked up a retro model a few years back.

It has a DPMS lower and I assumed, upper.

Found out at a gun show this weekend the upper is actually a government model Colt model 604 (Air Force M16). Was probably a full auto piece in the early 70's.

Went to the gun show thinking about trading or selling but now I'm keeping it.

Not the sexiest modern tactical AR but it's a pretty accurate period rebuild. Shoots great.

Here is my new piece. Bought it for an all around hunting rifle.

It's a Daniel Defense Ambush chambered in 6.8 SPC. Has a Geiselle SSA 2 stage trigger, 18" barrel. Topped it off with 2" Vortex cantilever offset mount w/ a Vortex Strike Eagle 1x6.

Here's is my Scar 17 w/a Vortex Viper PST 1X4X24 scope. It's a lot of fun to shoot, seems like very little recoil.

I have a 70's-era Colt into which I installed a new trigger, bolt and selector mechanism when I bought it in the 70's. And that's all I have to say about that. (I'm no gunsmith, the conversions were simple.)

It's very straight forward. No cool external additions of any kind. Looks like an extra from the set of 'Platoon.'

Sounds like mine. Got a pic?

I'll show you mine if you show me yours! Ha! As I said, no external frills. Recoil shocks everyone the first few times they fire it. The butt seems to jump away from your shoulder instead of into it. It actually takes some getting used to. But that lack of recoil lets you put that second and third shot right on top of the first one. In a hurry.

I figured as long as I was in the vault, I'd pull out another cool piece. This Springfield M1 Garand was built in March of 1945. 30 cal. of course, and you had to be a man to carry this baby around.

At 43 inches (without the bayonet I bought on Ebay) and averaging 10 lbs, it was a load all by itself. Firing from a standing position will wear you out pretty quick, besides, you probably needed to get your ass behind something or on the ground anyway. This piece is so clean, I doubt it saw war service, either in mop-up or later in Korea. An awesome piece of history, though, which is why I bought it.

Nice! It's a slickside Colt Model 604 like mine. Right down to the birdcage flash suppressor. Looks like you have the correct lower - which I do not. Mine is a DPMS. I was told for what it's worth, that this upper is specifically from an M16 because the pins are somehow unique to that application. Not 100% sure that is accurate, but I'm going with it.

I've posted this pic a few times.

And here's one where it was used as a prop in a project shoot we did at the studio. She's shooting zombies.

Just bought one in .300 AAC. Bushmaster lower w cmmg upper.

I hate reloading lol. Anderson lower, Blitzkrieg Tactical upper, Magpul furniture, Anderson 1x7 twist barrel, Vortex Strikefire II red dot, 45 degree backup sights, Rise Armament RA-140 SS trigger, and Rise Armament compensator. The 100 double drum mag works well with my setup so far, haven't had any issues.

1977 Yugo SKS. I have a 54 Russian Tula, but I'm hiding that one lol.

My Original Henry rifles. The 1st and 2nd edition engraved rifles and the new Iron Frame edition.

Found this old man last week. 1944 Quality Hardware M1 Carbine. It's a decent example, not really anything all that spectacular as far as M1 carbines go. It might be all original parts, the stock is a replacement during the war made by Jewel Manufacturing. Someone got cute and tried to make it look as they did as issued and removed the bayonet band/lug that most have nowadays, and they replaced it with what appears to be a reproduction part. But, I got a decent deal on it and it's a real M1 that shoots, so who cares. The sling is original, the mag pouch might not be.

AB, I am drooling over your two contributions to
this thread. My next gun will be an M1 Garand, just trying to find one in person so I don't get hosed and end up with some crap that someone is trying to pawn off as original.

Damn, Rulz! Most of the specimens in my collection would be embarrassed to be seen with any of yours. Sharp setup you have going. What do you call the AR derivative? Talk about a Heinz 57, wow. What a great looking piece!

Chuck and 15 need to step away from the steroid/accessories counter, too!! Really nice work, guys.

I guess the most photogenic piece I have is a .308 sniper, but it's buried pretty deep.

No more gun porn? I will throw another one out there...

I'm a Colt fan, just love the history with Colt guns and when it comes to 1911s I just dig em. I know, I know...some folks say they aren't worth it when you can buy Nighthawk, Ed Brown, Les Baer etc., but to me they are still fantastic in their own way. Just wish Colt would step up and make revolvers again....in my list of guns I want (and that's a long list, my wife thinks I have gone off the deep end with all this...) I would love to find a Colt Python that someone has "forgotten" lol. I had the pleasure of firing one once, I see why they are so sought after, but I'm not digging the fact that even a plain example is going for over $2500 these days.

The top gun is the newest version of the M45A1. The ion bond coating is pretty damn sweet. It's darker than the previous tan version in cerakote. I was going to buy an M45A1 awhile back but I never could find one near me, and as a rule I don't buy Colts without seeing them in person. There's a couple reasons for that, which I'm not going to go into now. I just happened to walk into a store a couple days ago and it was setting there. At first I thought it was the .22 version....but then I saw the side of it and said "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!" Lol.

The second is a gold cup trophy of course. It's my carry gun. My hands are big and any of the smaller guns are hard for me to shoot because my clumsy ass paws don't work right with a small frame gun. And I am just more confident with a 1911 frame than anything else in a handgun. The weight and feel just fits. And since I usually don't leave the house much, it's not like I walk around with one on my hip that often.

Did someone say porn? Did someone say they like revolvers?

OK, I know your fetish is the Python, and it's a beautiful piece, but maybe this will calm your joneses until the real deal comes along. This is the 9-1/2-inch Ruger Redhawk in .44 mag stainless.

I had this as a blued Super Blackhawk w/o scope many years ago before I was married and it was stolen (ugly story).

I had huge over-size grips on the Super Blackhawk and after about three speedloaders-full at the range (cattle pasture) it was usually time to pick up a smaller caliber. I love me some Dirty Harry, but anyone who fires one of these and thinks "Oh, I'll take my second shot single-handed!" should not be handling a weapon. imho.

I've never fired this one. The cover story to the wife was personal protection against wild boars here around Stillwater. I got her world-famous "You will never enjoy sex again as long as you live" glare.

That is slick aggiesboy. I went with the 357 mag on mine over the 44 mag because like you said after a couple reloads you are done shooting them. I can shoot straighter with my S&W 357 mag then most my semi-autos. Now I have yet to take my brand new ultra carry Kimber out and test it out. Wish my 357 mag wasn't so heavy it would be my CC weapon if not.

Nice AB! I actually have a .357 revolver, it's a 4 inch barreled Security Six by Ruger. It's mostly all original, but I think my granny (it was her gun LOL) had the trigger worked a bit. It's not nearly as stiff as other Ruger SSs I have handled. Can't find a front sight replacement for the life of me for this gun. The barrel on these older Rugers is just a different animal at the front sight. Just had to get a new phone (and a new knee....more on that later...) so I don't have pics of the Ruger. Love that scope on your .44. Very nice
