Progressives in American politics go farther back than most people realize. Political activism started in the 1930's, not the 1960's. Books teaching Marxist socialism were being spread around the universities going back to the early 1900's.
Here are some of the more well known lefties that ran (and some won) elections.
Upton Sinclair, Democrat, 1934 (ran for California governor, got nearly a million votes) joined socialism and the Democrat party, and it continues to this day. That's why the Socialist Party is dead in this nation. They have been running as Democrats for 85 years and running.

California Governor Culbert Olson - progressive.
U.S. Representative Helen Gahagan Douglas - progressive.
Truman's Vice President, Henry Wallace was a communist in the truest sense and tried to start a commie 3rd party to run against Truman, who was re-elected.
1960's radical activists split off from the Dems because of LBJ, (civil rights, black power, feminism, environmentalism and opposition to the Vietnam War) but joined back up with the Dems in the 70's. That's when black activists started winning municipal elections and the feminist screamed for more females to run for office.

That's just a few. By far, most victories have occurred on the local level in the big cities. But my point is this... AOC is nothing new. And all young people aren't gullible lemmings. Young conservatives are coming up too, and they know a rat when they see one.
I have hope for the future, although some things are already damaged and broken beyond repair. Everything the left touches turns to shit. Thanks to them, society has broken down.
But us sound-minded folks aren't silent anymore, which confounds and infuriates the radical parasites. We can thank Trump for encouraging us raise the big middle finger.
Not all Hispanics and African Americans are lefties. Just like all whites aren't righties. I tend to throw aside the stereotypes, thanks to my getting to know people from many different countries who come here, work hard and cherish their American citizenship. I respect these people far more than I do the hip-hop hoodie white trash punk turds next door.

I believe this is exactly what will happen. The US will balkanize, without the civil war fiascos that generally accompany such moves.
The only caveat I have here is that if the US goes into another really bad recession, the welfare states (CA, MA, IL, NY and a few others) will be absolutely broke from their unfunded pension obligations and that will bring about a cataclysmic political shift.
You are correct — not all Hispanics and African Americans are leftists. Millions of both populations are not leftists.
But as the charts below show, a strong statistical majority of both populations support speech restrictions, hate speech laws, gun restrictions and desire a larger government with more services.
The only American demographic that rejects those positions are whites — and whites will be the minority of the US population around 2040.

When the majority of the population wants their rights to be taken away, governments and politicians will happily comply with their demand.

Having been to Cuba last year. - I would describe it as a place that had a boom in construction in the 50s, but then there was a law that not one cent could be used on maintenance or repairs.
