America Inches Toward a Police State

It's interesting. You can see watch this attempted slow motion march to authoritarianism. Overwhelming majorities in Congress mandated sanctions against Russia and he just thumbed his nose at Congress. They'll do nothing -- they lack the basic moral fiber to stand up and potentially hurt their own careers. Oh, dems may raise hell, but it won't go anywhere and they don't really have the sack to confront him, either. The clumsy, transparent Nunes attempts to stop the investigation.... The country is regrettable going to get exactly what it deserves for years of education cuts and accepting FOX messaging. This is what they've been after the whole time -- an autocrat.

I disagree with about all of your politics, but it's interesting how people from all over the spectrum totally hate the guy. He started his campaign by hiring a crowd to clap for him -- literally paid people. He can puppeteer the ignorant and frrustrated so well. Go read It Couldn't Happen Here by Sinclair Lewis if you want a good sketch of how it goes. Eerie how the same themes and ideas are still circulating to enable authoritarianism. Some things never change.

You are 100% correct! Now, are you willing to turn that microscope on your team? If you do you will find they are exactly the same: hypocritical, power hungry minions of the state. The answer is to refuse to choose a team, hate them all for what they are.

Are you recommending disengagement as a solution? Curious how you get from "hate them all" to a better place. No troll, serious question.

No, I'm recommending that people wake up and realize that both teams are the opposite sides of the same coin. They both want to seize political power to force the country to do their bidding. That's as obvious as the nose on your face. I don't understand why people choose a side and defend it to the bitter end. Each side does the same dance. It is fascinating to watch as politicians switch arguments for and against policies as their teams are in power or out. They defend an action with all the bluster they can manage while they are in power, and then screech the sky is falling when they fall out of power and the other team does the same thing they were doing. It is easy to hate them all! Disengage, no I do not recommend disengaging. I recommend educating as many people as possible about the follies of politics.Politics is the art of threatening or using violence to get your way. If we're going to have a government we should be ever vigilant about its ability to use violence. One only needs to make a cursory study of the history of government to recognize the evil it can become. We can't get to a better place until people understand that.
