Here’s my quick hot take on the first OIG report:

1. Hillary came out better than I expected.
2. Comey has problems. Probably not Alcatraz problems though.
3. The FBI needs to seriously clean up its act and become apolitical.
4. Strzok has serious problems but may have flipped.

Great points.

1. The IG was specific that his investigation was not to relitigate Hillary's emails. I didn't expect any focus on her. But her tweet tho...lol.

2. Agreed. Comey looks like an incompetent boob but it doesn't appear that anything he did was criminal. He's already been fired so I can't see anything else but reputation damage from this report.

3. Agreed. The FBI definitely has an image problem at the leadership level.

4. I think Strzok is in deep doo doo. I think this report may get him fired. His real problems are still to come in the Russia stuff.

I will also add that I believe that Comey did not allow any bias to affect his decision making. Not true with other FBI personnel. Not a big surprise since this is basically what the report concluded.

Agreed. I think Comey's strange announcements were the result of his subordinates and his superior doing really, really dumb stuff. Lynch's idiotic meeting with WJC and Strzok and McCabe trying to nerf the email discovery on Weiner's laptop forced him to try to save face. But his seeming lack of any awareness of the issues is an indictment of his poor leadership.

IMO, the damning thing about Lynch's meeting with WJC was the internal emails about finding who leaked that the meeting was taking place. And Lynch tried to claim it was "unscheduled..."

Well, had a grand jury been impaneled like in other criminal investigations, it could have subpoenaed witnesses and evidence. But Loretta Lynch let us all know that the FBI wasn't actually doing a criminal investigation. It was simply reviewing a "matter."
