I used to love going to Hastings on Friday nights in middle school and renting one of the police academies or sports bloopers vhs tapes. One of those cultural experiences that was only a small snapshot in time.
Nowadays, other than books, it was mostly things for nerds without kids.
I'm sure it really ties the room together
Good question for @JonnyVitoOh no where will I get my high end beer pong supplies and superhero t shirts?
Hastings and Record Exchange probably still account for a large chunk of my CD collection. Also bought a lot of CD's there while in school at OSU.
Finally someone says it.Hastings and Record Exchange probably still account for a large chunk of my CD collection.
Yes, I still listen to CD's. MP3's sound like complete shit. Compressed garbage. There. I said it.
Was this the head shop/tape shop that instantly od'd you with incense on opening of the door?Sad to see Hastings go, although the Record Exchange was a much bigger loss for me.
I don't recall it being a head shop. It was on the NW corner of Main and Miller. There is a Facebook group dedicated to the place and its owner Ken Sears: https://www.facebook.com/groups/54669679529/Was this the head shop/tape shop that instantly od'd you with incense on opening of the door?
As far as chain stores go, Hastings and Borders were the best music selection I can remember. Hastings was kind of like a time machine, especially in the smaller towns. I went to one in Warrensburg, MO, population 19k, and they still had VHS movies they were trying to unload out in their lobby area.I'm a big music guy and they always had a great vinyl section.
Probably my favorite job to date.
