The open mat has been doing all 2000s wrestling teams for a few different schools. They haven't done OSU yet but who would put in it.

I'd go:
125: Coleman Scott
133: Johnny Thompson
141: Dean Heil
149: Jordan Oliver
157: Alex Dieringer
165: Johnny Hendricks
174: Chris Pendleton
184: Chris Perry
197: Jake Rosholt
HWT: Steve Mocco

I think they ran ours a couple of weeks back. I won't link it, just in case anyone wants to guess.

I would personally put Espo at 141 over Dean. Always had exciting matches. His funk and relentless style were top notch.

I believe Esposito only wrestled his freshman year at 141 and although he was a pretty high seed at NCAA, did not place. Dean was 3 time AA at this weight and 2 x champ, so hard to not give this weight to Dean in my opinion. Esposito was great, but ...

Valid point Espo did win his only title at 149. Coleman Scott's lone title came at 133. And both of Chris's were at 174. But on my team I'd rather have a freshman not place than a senior.

Interesting point. I look at this as a career and not one year. Both were great wrestlers. Espo DNP, 2,1,2 (I think) and Heil 4,1,1, DNP. I think most would rather be a 1 time champ the 4xAA.

But would you rather be a 4 time finalist (2,2,2,1) or DNP, 8,1,1?

Definitely the 2x champ, IMO.

Just theoretical, based on the discussion about 141 and whether you would choose Heil or Esposito. Both great, but might be a different answer whether basing on entire career or one season.
The last part where it said (2,2,2,1) of DNP, 8,1,1) neither apply to those 2 wrestlers

Not intended to apply to these wrestlers- just bring up the discussion about what each person, or most, would consider “better”. My initial point wa# I considered Heil to have a better career based on placing. Derrick-State feels Esposito was better to place as best 141 lbr based on Heil not being an AA as a senior and Esposito not placing as a freshman.

There is not a right or wrong answer here, so I put up the question as to which you would rather be - 4x finalist and one time champ or 3 time AA with 8th and two time champ.

So the question for these two is who is the better 3 x AA? 4,1,1,DNP or DNP, 2,1,2 ( assuming me recall of Espito’s placing is accurate- please correct if I am off as I have not looked this up). To me, it is 4,1,1,DNP, but one could argue not placing as a senior makes the other better.

I thought perry was 174 when he won his titles....
Good point, Perry lost in the round-of-12 at 184 and was 3-1-1 at 174.
2000 AA's at 184
Jake Rosholt - 1, 3
Daniel Cormier - 2
Nolan Boyd - 4
Clayton Foster - 6
Jack Jensen - 7

I don't think I missed anyone but it's got to be Rosholt as a no brainer.
