Add Stephen Paddock to the list of Second Amendment ideologues.

So he was a crazy loon. The thing I love here is how you linked the conspiracy theory to the NRA. Any evidence of that claim? I'm not a huge NRA follower, but until this post, I'd never even heard of this so called 'popular conspiracy theory', and find it strange that something backed by the NRA would have so little visibility or traction.

You've really put some words in my mouth this a.m. My thesis is succinctly stated in the thread title. It looks like whether the NRA conspiracy is true or false, Paddock was talking about it before he killed everyone.

If the NRA conspiracy stuff is interesting to you I'd suggest you follow it up with an internet search for the evidence -- all I know is what's in the article. It appears somewhat sourced at first blush. I can't possibly track down all the wingnut conspiracies.

Are you not saying that your post said this: "The widespread seizure of guns by the federal government — specifically through FEMA — is a popular conspiracy theory amongst extremist gun nuts, and one that was heavily promoted by the National Rifle Association..." That is the gist of my question to you? Do you have ANY evidence of this heavy promotion of some "popular conspiracy theory" by the NRA. I've never even heard of this conspiracy theory. Or are you saying that Paddock said it was promoted by the NRA? That's my question. I don't care that Paddock was a conspiracy theorist and nutjob. I'm asking what do you have to link that conspiracy theory to the NRA as your post clearly states.

I don't know what the NRA said or promoted and I don't care, either. Read the bit about the NRA in context. I don't know if it's true. Per the author, Paddock believed it and the author explained the conspiracy he was purportedly talking about. Take your NRA issues up with the author or Paddock's estate. What I care about is the correlation between killing and his ideology.

Thank you. At least with this article (not in the original link that went to some random twitter) I know where you got your story. It may even be true. I do find it amazing that you have the gall to complain about posters linking NationalReview and Breitbart, while in turn highlighting such wonderful musings of thinkprogress.org.

I don't bitch about National Review -- they, to my knowledge, don't lie. I do bitch about Brietbart. Don't bitch about something I post unless it's untrue. You haven't demonstrated that anything's untrue, btw. Am I just supposed to assume that thinkprogress is lying because they're not on your team?

Interesting. I lump breitbart, National review, and many of the right wing sites you have called out all together. I apologize for miss-stating you. You believe that some (but not all) have a credibility issue, whereas I took your position as far right-wingers are not valid resources due to the extremism of their positions, and to me Thinkprogress is every bit as far left as Breitbart & NR are far right.
