That isn't the whole truthful story. Political fact checkers state it is half true and the Caravan is also half true.

What really happened was 1200 to 1500 crossed into Mexico with the full intention of making it the 900 miles to the US border. That is factual.

What changed their tune was their leaders utterly failed at trying to get them staged onto freight trains headed North (while it is estimated that 150-200 actually made it onto freight trains). So....with the daunting task of making it 900 miles on foot, the group pretty much gave up and started to disband. There is still a huge number of them in Mexico, not quite sure what their next moves will be.
