Same here Ostatedchi....although it should be called "We can't get our way we want out" Exit.
Be interesting to see how many Native Californias leave when they are over run by illegals and when taxes go through the roof to support all the things that their crazy legislature would pass.
Have thought for quite some time that if the US Balkanized it wold be a much better for the various segments of America.

If Cali secedes, make them go thru the same legal immigration process everyone else does migrating to America.
They steal all their water upstream, they lose their water, disaster for them. US would own all the naval bases, etc....Could get ugly. Redirect that water to middle America so we could replace all the produce that comes out of Cali. When we build the wall, turn it North at the Mexican, Cali border and wall them off as well.
I would hope the NBA, NFL, etc.....would kick out those franchises, I would assume the league owners intended to have US based franchises.
Many other companies in Cali I could see leaving.
I would hope the rest of the US would protest Hollywood by not watching any movie or show made in Hollywood, force a shut down of Hollywood. Studios in other areas of the country could expand and take over the US movie market and end the lib Hollywood agenda at least in the US. Made in the USA!
Tax the holy living shit out of products imported from Cali. Tax the hell out of US based trucking companies leaving Cali with products. By default they would get free military from the US, they would take all of the Fed taxes to themselves and not give a penny for defense, so make them pay in other ways.
Cali would end up an extension of Mexico with their lib open border policy. Drugs and murder would go off the charts. You already have Mexican gangs killing and forcing out African Americans out of historically African American neighborhoods.
Expand the airport in Las Vegas, hopefully US based air carriers would eliminate LAX as a major hub.
They would be screwed, but they already might be anyway.

Holeee shiiite you are correct. I am sure Germany, Italy, and France would take them. A good chunk of Californians know how to illegally cross borders so I am sure they could figure out how to do it again.
I'm shocked this doesn't receive the amount of ridicule that "conservative" succession efforts (Texas, for example) usually receive in the press.
I think it's an ridiculous idea no matter who is proposing it, personally. I also fear that it if it's successful, it could utimately destroy the union.

I'm sure there would be a negotiated time frame that allows free movement in and out of the state by people and companies. Part of that negotiation would also be that California would have to assume their proportional share of the national debt; honor trade marks and patents; trade agreements; purchase of all federal lands in California; either purchase or removal of military bases and hardware in the state; Consular and diplomatic relations; water and energy agreements; and many others. Both with the United States as well as any other foreign governments.
I can see China and Japan jumping all over this deal to prop up California in order to get a foothold in North America. California better be damned sure of this because I just don't see them getting re-admitted to the USA by the various states any time soon if they start to falter.
But more important than all that is this would finally dispel the notion that it is illegal or unconstitutional to secede from the union.

That's the best line in the article. It is obvious that America is fractured between two distinct philosophies. Secession actually allows things to be more as they were intended at the founding. A federalism of sorts. Red states wouldn't need to be enemies of blue states. We could trade with each other, be friends rather than enemies. They could pursue their mixed economy ideals while red states could practice a version closer to capitalism. It would be a perfect experiment to see once and for all which philosophy would provide greater prosperity and liberty for the most people.
I'd actually argue that the US should be broken into several countries. Unfortunately our government has become broken. It was designed that left and right would negotiate and end up somewhere in the middle. Now its which ever party has the most power pushes and allows only its agenda. So there is no middle, only F'd up Right and Left wing ideologies.
If the DOJ, FBI, and CIA, and all other local, state, and federal agencies enforced our laws fairly and equally I really feel our country would be a much better place because it would be operated by more people that were not crooks or self serving bastards.
I would like to see a law passed that ANY Congressman or any other State or Federal official that if it can be proven that they intentionally lied to the American people can be prosecuted and removed from office. If you don't know, you say you don't know, do not make facts up. Ok, so we have a free press, they can say what they want. But, public officials LIE all the time, they know the real facts and still alter them and LIE to us intentionally. If you are being paid by the American people to serve America, how should it be legal to LIE, LIE, LIE. Lies influences so many things. Yes, it would be tough to enforce, but should your freedom of speech include lies to the American public to help big pharma because of the dollars they pump in to the political system? Should it be OK, to intentionally LIE to the American public and intentionally grossly misstate the facts to get a bill thru? Or get elected? The free press use to help keep law makers more honest and use to do a better job of exposing the lies, now they are in bed with the politicians. All we have is LIES. We have NOTHING in place today to protect us from LIES, not the DOJ, FBI, the free press, nothing. Anything goes under "freedom of speech". Well, a CEO, CFO, University President, etc....they all eventually get fired over LIES. Today in Washington? Nope....great rewards exist to look the American people in the eye and intentionally LIE and mistate the facts while on the taxpayer's dime. The supporters of each candidate is ok with them lying just to get elected. We have to protect ourselves from ourselves and force all public servants to be HONEST. It is your JOB to be truthful to the American people because that is what they are paying you for, it should not be considered protected as free speech. Words should count when it comes out of Politicians mouths. Shut down all the leaks, shut down all the lies, basically STFU and go to work for the American people and when we have a question that involves your job and our lives, you better tell us the truth or you are going to be prosecuted and go to jail, they are the biggest public trust we have, they should be held to the highest standards and accountability. They get great medical care and they win one election they get a lifetime retirement, the least they can do is to be honest, and it is not that hard to do, easier to tell the truth than to keep track of all your lies and to cover yourself all the time. Telling the truth is not hard, not hard at all.

The federal government has too much power, too much money, owned by way to many special interests and are basically entrenched for life. Break the US up, bring local citizens of their own states back into the discernible mix and I can guarantee you the accountability threshold will be way higher then those dip shits in DC are held to.
