IMO, his “strategy” is to create conflict and chaos and doubt.

It’s not a bad strategy if you function well within such chaos, others don’t, and you are sure you have a certain level of support that will never leave you no matter what.

The thing I’m not sure of is how much of that is measured, thoughtful, and tactical and how much of it is just instinct, the way he has always done things, and just the way he is. My gut level sense it is more the latter than the former...who really knows though.

The simple fact that Trump was able to go toe-to-toe with Ted f*ckin Cruz, in debates, with minimal preparation, speaks for itself about his abilities.

Ted Cruz is widely considered one of the best college debaters of all time, he’s the ultimate policy wonk, and he lives for the debate.

Trump going up against Cruz with zero debate experience (and at least getting a draw) was like sending a state fair prize fight winner into the ring against Muhammad Ali.

great reply. can't say i disagree. if it's instinctive, that means the hits are effectively camouflaged by the misses, which likely makes them even more unpredictable and difficult to counter. i do believe there is a substantial amount of directed strategy at work here though. the execution of it is the instinctive part, IMO.
