I think Walsh will play in the same backfield at times with Mason. I think they will use Walsh in the backfield and give run / pass options, I think they will run some option with him in the backfield and he will have run / option decisions. I believe Walsh will motion at times to an IR spot. Walsh is a 4.4 guy with the knowledge of our offense to do this and he is a play maker once he gets in the open field. It gives OSU the chance to do some serious throwbacks across the field, or pitch him the ball to get to the corner to keep it, or stop and throw it.
Do I think OSU goes whole hog on this? No, but I believe it gives OSU the opportunity to do some unique play calling at times that even Meachum would be jealous of. I think you are going to see a carry over from the Cactus Bowl in terms of some of the unique things (Castleman and the jumbo package) the staff did on offense just to make it fun for the players and jack with the defense.
Walsh can also be used as a decoy because he has the ability from any backfield position, to run it, catch it and run, or option, or pass. The new Cowboy back position assists with all of this IMO.
Walsh is not going to be just a QB this year, I think in Conference play you might see one special play each game with him involved, with the thought process of hitting a big play. If they find something that really works well....maybe you see it more than once.
