Another set of interesting numbers. Despite what I posted in the Defense thread, it appears that the "this team shoots too many 3's" faction does have a leg to stand on... (Stats are for conference games only)

Conclusions (in regards to OSU)
OSU takes the 2nd most shots per game, in the league (to WVU), OSU takes the most 3 point shots per game (by a pretty wide margin). OSU is middle of the pack in 3 point percentage, so it is tough to argue that they are justified in taking so many 3's. I think it is safe to say that our offense lives and dies by the 3. When they are falling (like against Tech), our offense is going to look pretty good. When they are not falling (like against OU/KU), our offense is going to look very pedestrian. The argument can be made that the reason we have no inside game is that Ford let's them shoot too many 3's. The opposite argument can also be made. Since we have no legit offensive post threat, we are forced to depend on 3's to generate offense. The truth is probably a bit of both. We are near the top in FG attempts/game, and I suspect that is an indication of how strong our defense is (getting steals/forcing turnovers). It sure doesn't reflect our rebounding prowess, because I am pretty sure we are the worst rebounding team in the league.
Conclusions (in regards to 2 teams we have not played yet).
WVU is having a very good season. I haven't watched any of their games very closely. But, just from looking at the 3 numbers above, they look like the perfect example of a "3 jack team". They get far more shot attempts than any other team in the league and are 2nd in 3 point attempts/game. Yet their 3 point percentage is near the bottom of the league. That would suggest that they are shooting a lot of 3's early in the shot clock (increasing the overall number of possessions/shots in their games), and missing a ton of those early 3's. I have left out a lot of key stats, but looking at this snapshot, they look like a team that has a chance to drop in the standings as conference play progresses.
TCU's numbers are terrible. There is absolutely no reason that our defense should not allow us to sweep them.
