25th amendment

I'm surprised it took this long given "the Russians did it" and "he hasn't shown his taxes" have worn out their welcome. It's the next step in their scorched Earth agenda to stop Trump.

I hope this doesn't get legs. The precendent this action generates would be as far-reaching as the so-called "nuclear" options.

I agree. While Trump is clearly in over his head and causes many to question whether he can perform his duties as President, the two other branches of government have plenty of powers to restrict, limit, and overcome a President's actions. His unconstitutional "ban" is just one example of how the judicial branch can put a halt to what a President attempts to do very quickly. There is no need for the above action.

One area of concern though is the power that the modern presidency exerts/claims over military action. Unfortunately, there continues to be an erosion of checks on a President's power to commence military action. Both the judicial and legislative branches are to partly blame for this because they have played a role in this erosion. And so when we have a President like Trump who is clearly unstable when it comes to the use of military action, the lack of checks in this area can become very problematic.

Congress needs to reassert its war powers and the judicial branch needs to support such action.

you lost me at "president like trump who is clearly unstable when it comes to use of military action"

and picked me back up with "the lack of checks" in a solid post and comments.

i don't know if issues can be discussed with politicizing

the constitution does not seem to be a
holy grail.

obama ramrodding wealth redistribution through scotus in the name of healthcare showed us exactly how dangerous lack of checks and balances can be.

How did I lose you there? This is a man who has no strategy for most of the hot spots in the world right now...who changed his position on Syria in a matter of days...and also who didn't even know which direction a naval fleet was sailing. Rather unstable, not to mention, dangerous.

Obama didn't ramrod anything through the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court exercised its check on the executive branch during the Obama administration. The Obama administration lost often at the Supreme Court. Apparently you didn't agree with the Supreme Court's ruling regarding the individual mandate, however, that doesn't mean there was a lack of checks and balances.

The checks and balances that our Constitution has given us work. They still work today. That is all that is needed in terms of protecting the country against an inept President.

honest to god do you really think for one second trump didn't know where an aircraft carrier was heading?

that makes sense to you?

because you read it on twitter, the nyt wsj or cnn?

and no i don't agree with scotuscare

wait til october and the premium increases are announced. see what the news is then

lol, I don't know. He is the one who said something that wasn't true. Either he didn't know or he misspoke. Both are dangerous though when you are dealing with N. Korea. Hence the reason a President should know what he is talking about and choose his words very carefully when it comes to military matters. Not be unstable like Trump is.

There are aspects of Obamacare I like, but there are also aspects that I don't care for (aspects that just help the insurance companies get richer). We need a single payer system, Medicare for all. Obamacare helped provide insurance to millions of Americans, but it isn't the final answer.

Still, the Supreme Court exercised its check on the Obama administration often. That is the overall point.

again you say didn't know or misspoke and tie it to instability

id bet trump knew the chinese knew the north koreans knew the japanese knew and the south koreans knew all the stake holders knew because you don't simply misplace carrier groups or misspeak

this isn't 1941, you can google satellite imagery

trump instead of planting iron off the peninsula coast and legitimately raising the stakes

simply doubled the big blind talked a little noise sent the VP to seoul and sabotaged a missle launch to rain on the crazy tards birthday parade

all of that is making a point and high level diplomacy without actual military provocation
he just met with the chinese dude and is trying to move forward while solving a problem.

he got elected president against all odds
he is not a dumbass

Same should go for congress. Don't write a freaking rule for others that you wouldn't write for yourself.

because you don't simply misplace carrier groups or misspeak

Sure you do, especially if you are Trump. He misspeaks all the time and clearly doesn't know that much when it comes to geopolitics (i.e. Trump noting that after listening to the President of China for ten minutes he finally realized that North Korea wasn't going to be as easy as he thought it would be).

Just because Trump won more votes in the electoral college doesn't make him an expert when it comes to foreign policy. He is clearly learning on the fly (which would partly explain his policy shifts). He has also yet to formalize any strategy to address the problem areas around the globe.

Unstable.

Just because Trump won more votes in the electoral college

you would agree that makes him president trump...

i think he loves trolling

misplacing a carrier group while making a point to n korea good for lots of laughs when the oval office door shuts
