Hulsey posted the other day that this kid, Chris Boucher out of Northwest College (Juco) in Wyoming was a back-up plan for Stone and Davis, so I thought I'd start a thread for him. Interesting kid - prolific scorer out of Canada. Played Juco at NMJC last year with Newberry, so the coaches should have some good inside scoop on him.
He's tall (6'10") but skinny (maybe 200?). Stats look good - 23.4 ppg, 57% FG/41% 3-pt (only shoots 4 per game so don't freak out Bowler)/80% FT/11 RPG and 5 Blk/game.
Not sure how he'd hold up in Big 12, but he seems to have a good stroke based on his stats. I also like what other coaches have to say about him - below is an excerpt from Sheridan College's coach from a recent game:
But Sheridan's lack of energy out of the locker room made things too easy for Boucher and the Trappers. Northwest filled the basket, and by the time Boucher was subbed out for good with 3:46 to play, his stat line showed a cool 35 points and 19 rebounds.
He barely broke a sweat in the process.
He shot 14-of-18 from the field, 1-of-2 from distance and brought down 12 of his rebounds on the offensive glass.
"He's without a doubt the best player in the league," Hammer said of Boucher. "He just changes the game. He makes everybody around him so much better offensively and defensively.
"He's so productive," Hammer added. "What I love about him is he doesn't force it. He gets his points, and he gets his looks through the offense. I wish we could teach our guys that."
