Who was the projected 184 that John is so mad at? Says he maybe shouldn't even be on the team & maybe a true fr. starts here.

I saw it on twitter & don't know how to post the link.
Result of the 197 finals at OCU. John made a beeline for Marsden in the stands, yelled at him and ultimately pushed him out the door. Marsden in the third period was behind by a point and riding the OU recruit. It was a half hearted ride which the OU recruit appeared to not be interested in getting away as he had the lead. I assume this was why John was so mad as he wasted much of the 3rd period doing little on top instead of letting him up and trying to score. I think Keegan Moore is the starter at 184 regardless of this situation but it certainly did not help Andrew that John was that mad at him.I do not however think John would have tweeted this and it must have been someone else close to John or the program.I could also be incorrect in my assessment as I did not hear what John was saying to him but only saw the look on John's face when he was going after Marsden in the stands.

It was in an interview that somebody put on twitter. It's obvious in the interview he is very mad at the 184 lber.

In the video hes talking about Moore he said he might start a true freshmen at 184 .I would guess it would be Bear Hughes

But Marsden is supposed to be the 184 when Preston gets back which is supposed to be soon I️ believe.

Coach confirmed Boo would be out until January again today. Other than 184 and 197, he sounds pretty happy with everyone's performance from this weekend.

i will find out tommorow whats the reason why boo is out and try to get some info on 184

Probanky grades related. He will be training and preparing for the U23 worlds but not sure that would prevent him from wrestling folkstyle first semester.

yeah i am thinking grades as well. i just hope he gets the chance to get into the starting lineup this year. he hasn't had the best of luck in college with his injuries and for him to finally be so close has to be kind of frustrating.

I just hope fans enjoy this team this year and don't get worked up by the fact we don't have a realistic shot to win it. We've got some guys who are a blast to watch. The team should be fun.

No doubt. The first three weights have NC contenders. Brock, Rogers, and Smith are three of the more offensive, explosive and exciting wrestlers in college this year. I think Lewellen (if he can carry the weight) could fall into this category as well.

We have legitimate shot at 7-8 AA's and three guys competing for a national title.

He could have been talking about both Marsden and Moore. I know he was upset with Marsden but Moore was listed as going and then did not wrestle. He has been in the doghouse with John off and on since he got here.

Both those guys have talent and I think the public criticism was meant as a message to one or both.

I personally think Mardsen could be a nice surprise at 184 this year. He had a great summer.

Marsden even though he is in the doghouse and his defense is poor, he might be the most entertaining offensive wrestlers we have, he might not win every time but his matches wont be boring.

Why would John be talking about Marsden, who does everything right from grades to effort at practice and off the mat? He was talking about the other 184 pounder Moore, who has been off and on the team like a yoyo. Why do you think Moore didn't wrestle at OCU this last weekend? If he really wanted to wrestle he would of been close to making weight at 184 on Sunday! Austin Harris 174/184 would be the RS pulled, Bear isn't even close to being ready.

It's weird to say this: 3rd Place a Nationals would be a successful season for this Team.

I don't mind sacrificing this season to set up for a great season next year...plus it will be fun to watch guys develop.

Keegan was a HS 182. He wrestled 182 at the Dapper Dan (PWC) in March 2016 (with a weight allowance) then missed making 195 for Team Minnesota at Fargo in July 2016. He is so talented that he ended up placing 2nd at 220 even though he weighed in at 199. In an interview afterwards, he said that he will need to be much more disciplined when he gets to college and he even jokes that he can't eat those extra cheeseburgers. I like him, he seems like a good kid and he has a lot of ability. But to still be missing weight in his second year of college is a concern, especially with an opportunity to start while Preston is out.

I know John expects a lot from all of his wrestlers and believes in corrective action when necessary. It seems to me just for a temporary fix until Preston is back move Moore to 197 where he should not have trouble making weight and move Marsden back to 184 where he will be much more competitive. Place more restrictions on Moore make him toe the line until Preston is ready to return then if Moore has done what has been required of him he can move back down to 184 and challenge Marsden for the starting spot.

A buddy of mines kid is on the team, he showed me a text that said “be ready at 184” from coach Smith yesterday. I don’t want to say his name but he’s not typically a 184.

I like this idea. The only issue I see is that Andrew might not be allowed to work his way down to 184 for a few weeks after weighing in at 197 at the OCU Open. But Preston is out until January so it makes sense for December matches.

Marsden can't wrestle 184 until middle of December. NCAA weight loss rules. Bear was killed in wrestle off but Austin Harris had a good showing for a incoming freshman wrestling up a weight.

I happened to see a video of a wrestler named Bey that had won the gold in an incredible match at the Cadet World for the US. Does anyone know where he is headed to school? Where is he from ?

You mean Kamal Bey? He is a fantastic talent. Probably the only times I've watched greco are when he's wrestling. He's out of Oak Park River Forest HS in Illinois. I think he is a resident athlete at the OTC. I'm not sure if he plans on wrestling in college, he might wrestle full time.

Glad to see Tognetti back posting and actively engaged.
Thank you. I'm been checking the boards the whole time. Still love OSU wrestling, my horses are taking up all my fee time. Looking forward to a weekend or two in Stillwater if it doesn't conflict with my competing schedule. Shout out to my friend Earl. Hope all is well.
