Here are some first game thoughts. We are NOT playing with much passion. The team looks and is playing like someone kicked them hard in the nuts. I guess this is to be expected after losing your head coach, losing your two best players off last year's team, losing your best player this year (#30 Carroll), losing your heralded freshman (#2 Dawson), losing your highlight reel knucklehead (#24 Dillard), and add to that a very empty an unenthusiastic crowd.

Pros
- I'm glad to see a Sutton on the bench
- we have quick hitters on offense again
- our defensive rebounding seems to be much improved and emphasized
- we protected the rim better and did a better job contesting more shots in the paint (granted we played Soloman and N'Guessan at the same time against a much smaller team)
- we won by 31 without 4 players who will play a significant role on this team
- Boynton is genuine and a really nice guy who is (A) someone you want to root for (B) NOT Travis Ford

Cons
- way, way, way, way too many contested 3pt shots well behind the 3pt line
- undisciplined shot selection (when I coached the kids knew if they took that shot they had better make it or they would be sitting on the bench, so this rarely ever happened)
- we are not running the offense that was so successful under Underwood last year (why change this when it was so successful and I thought we were keeping stability for this very reason)
- our pressure defense isn't creating turnovers and is creating a lot of backdoor plays for the other team (this should be a call during different times in the game and not our base defense, we called it "red" and only ran it during certain situations in a game)
