Steve Bannon Released From Prison

Released one week before the election. Will be interesting to see what he does over the next few days.

Wrestling Athlete to Coach Pipeline

Had some random thoughts pop up on my drive into work this morning that I wanted to share with people who are smarter than me.

Is wrestling the only sport where it’s all-time great athletes have consistently transitioned to being great coaches? Dan Gable, John Smith, and Cael Sanderson (and hopefully David Taylor soon) are all on the Mount Rushmore of American wrestling competitors who transitioned to coaching and produced some dominant teams.

I could be entirely wrong, but I don’t think guys like Tom Brady, Michael Jordan, Cal Ripken, or **insert your personal GOAT in any sport* could turn a college or professional team in their respective sport into a dynasty in the way those other guys have.

Thinking about that got me wondering why that’s the case, and what are the characteristics that make a great wrestler which also translate to being a great coach. Is it because they have a chance to roll with the guys in the room? Is it because there’s so much more of a mental/mindset component to wrestling than those other sports? I’m not totally sure.

Sorry for the long, maybe rambling, post. Just something for y’all to chew on this fine Thursday afternoon .

I think I found why Pubs are talking about Virginia

Virginia doesn't break out the party affiliation for its early ballot data. However, they do break out ballot data by congressional district. Virginia has 11 congressional districts: 5 are Republican held (1,2,5,6,9) and Dems have 6 (3,4,7,8,10,11). If you compare the vote counts by district, something very interesting shows up. Every Republican district has already surpassed 50% of their 2020 total vote. Not 1 Democrat-held district has reached 50% yet. Now many of the Dem districts have a larger denominator based on the vote totals from 2020 and there is no guarantee that Republican-held districts voted Republican in this election. Nor do I think it will be enough for the Pubs to carry the state. But it is an interesting phenomenon which would likely indicate higher enthusiasm for the Pubs out the gate. Full numbers and sourcing below. (Rounding applied)

Republican Districts: (Total votes as of yesterday/Final Total for 2020)

CD1: 163K/293K - 55.6%
CD2: 116K/220K - 52.7%
CD5: 136K/233K - 58.4%
CD6: 122K/211K - 57.8%
CD9: 114K/173K - 65.9%

Democrat Districts:

CD3: 80K/224K - 35.7%
CD4: 112K/258K - 43.4%
CD7: 124K/287K - 43.2%
CD8: 125K/304K - 41.1%
CD10: 133K/334K - 39.8%
CD11: 134K/282K - 47.5%

Update

Guys, I wanted to update you guys on my status since it’s been awhile. After four weeks in Baylor Scott and White Heart Hospital in Plano, I finally got moved to a rehab hospital in Bedford last Thursday. Things going well and hopefully will be headed home by this weekend. I cannot tell y’all how much I appreciate your thoughts and prayers. It’s been a scary ordeal that I would not want anyone to have to go through, but God has blessed me and I’ll be back up and around soon. Let’s hope we can say the same for our team.

And thanks to brother @Marshall Jim Duncan for keeping everyone updated while I was out of it.

Confirming What We All Knew, The January 6th Commission Was A Kangaroo Court

Looks to me like someone needs to be referred to the Trump DOJ when he wins the election. As Democrats have been so eager to point out, "No one is above the law". Those involved in the kangaroo court need to be held accountable for their crimes.

Update on Trump's event schedule

Again, this is where the rubber meets the road, I don't look at polls, I look at where Trump is speaking because that's driven off internal data.

Today:
Trump is in PA, Tulsi and RFK JR are in Nebraska

Sunday:
Trump in PA, Vance in WI

Monday:
Trump making 2 appearances in NC

Tuesday:
Vance making 2 appearances in AZ

Weds:
Trump in Georgia

Thurs:
Trump in NV

Trump and Vance seem to be concentrating on PA, MI, WI, NC, GA, AZ in that order. Not seeing much in NV although there is the stop on Thurs. PA and MI seem to be the two states they are hitting the hardest.

No additional rallies announced for CA or CO suggests they didn't see enough from the first one to invest more time there. Also continues to be curious no stops in VA. The reality is, if Trump can get PA, that severely limits Kamala's path to the WH.

The final 7 days before the election starts on Oct 29th, the stops in that week should tell us which states will determine the race.
