Duncanville destroyed Southlake, 35-9

Duncanville D was dominating.

Here's my story from the Dallas Morning News:

MCKINNEY — Solomon James threw for three touchdowns and ran for another as Duncanville advanced to the Class 6A, Division I state championship game and avenged last year's semifinal playoff loss to Southlake Carroll with a dominating 35-9 win over the Dragons at McKinney ISD Stadium Saturday night .

Duncanville (13-1), which has won 13 in a row after a season-opening loss to the nation's No. 1 team, Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei, will be playing in its third Class 6A state championship in four years.

Duncanville, ranked No. 2 in the state in Class 6A and No. 20 in the nation by MaxPreps, will take on familiar adversary in the championship game — Galena Park North Shore — which defeated Duncanville for the state title in both 2018 and 2019. Duncanville will be playing for its first state championship since 1998.

In Saturday's semifinal win over Southlake Carroll, James, Duncanville's senior quarterback, had a career game to lead the Panthers to the win. He was a perfect 13-of-13 passing for 164 yards passing and accounted for each of Duncanville's four offensive scores.

He threw 5 yards to Malachi Medlock for Duncanville's first offensive touchdown that that made it 14-0 before adding a 22-yard scoring strike to Lontrell Turner with just 23 seconds left in the first half to up the advantage to 21-3 at intermission.

In the second half, James had a 43-yard run midway through the third quarter to make it 28-3 before connecting with Dakorien Moore on an 83-yard strike. That score came after a Duncanville defensive stop of Carroll deep inside Duncanville territory and was the final nail in the coffin for Southlake.

The stop by Duncanville was a just a part of the Panthers' dominating defensive performance. Duncanville held Southlake Carroll's potent offense, which came into the game averaging 47 points a game, to single digits for the first time since 2018. In that game, also against Duncanville in a regional final game, Duncanville defeated Carroll 51-7.

Owen Allen, Carroll's star junior running back who has put together back-to-back 2,000-yard seasons on the ground, was held to just 69 yards on 15 carries by the stout Duncanville defense.

Duncanville's defense also forced three Carroll turnovers, two of which led Duncanville touchdowns. Five-star senior defensive lineman Omari Abor and senior 3-star linebacker Jordan Crook, who is committed to Arkansas, had their way with the Carroll offense. And it started from the very first Southlake Carroll offensive possession.

It was then that Abor first made his presence felt. On a third-and-long from inside the Carroll 20, Abor hit Carroll quarterback Kaden Anderson, forcing a fumble that Abor recovered and returned 17 yards for a score and Duncanville never looked back.

Duncanville scored on its first offensive possession when Medlock caught a 5-yard TD pass from James to make it 14-0. Medlock, who is expected to sign with Toledo on signing day on Wednesday, ran eight times on the drive and account for all but five yards of the 57-yard march. For the game, Medlock ran for 143 yards on 24 carries.

Southlake Carroll, which finished its season at 14-1, trimmed the lead to 14-3 on a 46-yard field goal by Tyler White early in the second period, but the Dragons could not break into the end zone in the first half. Carroll had just 56 yards of total offense in the first half against the Duncanville defense.

Carroll got it's only touchdown early in the fourth quarter on James Lehman's one-yard run. Carroll had 80 of its 240 total yards of offense on that drive. Carroll junior quarterback Kaden Anderson was 15-of-25 for 212 yards, but was picked off twice.

Using The Governmental Response To The Pandemic As An Example

This article/opinion explains why governments should never be trusted. No matter what you call it: fascism, socialism, communism, social democracy or anything else government is designed for some people to exert authority, while never having to accept blame for mistakes, even if they cost an untold number of innocent lives. How some reasonably intelligent people place all their faith in authoritarianism is unfathomable to me.

Michael Nesmith RIP

probably one of the better real musicians of the Monkees, stood his ground more than the others it seems, in keeping his musical dignity alive while with the Monkees. Probably my least favorite of the group, he definitely had a huge role in their success. He was talented in other areas as well...writing songs, movies, shows, etc. Linda Ronstand used one of his songs for her first hit...titled Different Drum. I don't remember any of that, but he won a grammy for some other video as well. Born in Houston and was 78 years old. Oh, and his mother, a single mom, worked 2 jobs to support him and her...a secretary and a painter. Well, until she invented "Liquid Paper" out of a blender in the kitchen...and the rest is history. He didn't have to worry about money the rest of his life.

“I root for OSU when they ain’t playin us...”

Oh?!?? WHAT ABOUT NOW, YA BIG FAGIT???

I love it.....those same people are wearing a shit eating snarl and squinty eyes. No joy. No happy happy....no guffaws and gentle belches after meals followed by little quips and pleasantries about college football from the squat techster pricks. Just full on indigestion and headaches worrying about how best to soothe the sting of Lincoln’s log.

True story....take my mom to Lowes yesterday to help with her decorating at her home.... I have a 2020 Gladiator Rubicon all decked out with OSU stickers and plate. I park in front. We go in, come out....and some ass wipe squat had pulled his Chevy shit bag in behind me, parked juuuuuuust as close as he could to my rear bumper, his ou receiver cover touching my receiver hitch in place. He was angled a bit and one side of his bumper was touching my nice clean bumper. Mine is new and without scratches. His was old and scratched up, probably from many nights leaving Waffle House full of all you can eat burgers and pancakes and backing into other peoples shit after drinking it up and hitting on 21 year old girls at 60 years old...I went in full rage. So, I pulled forward while leaving, and using my back up camera, backed up and smashed that sonsabitches ou receiver cover into a thousand pieces with my hitch ball. Bitch.

Was it necessary? Nope. Should I have just left? Probably.

But, nah. It’s asshole time.

Maybe I’ll root for em when they are getting boat raced in the SEc....

Money Not a Guarantee

There’s enough history to suggest that throwing money at coaches and now players doesn’t guarantee better results. Texas is a perfect example, as is A&M and others.
They both recruit top level talent, and their coaches make more money. But, it hasn’t helped them build a better program.

Coaches will now be under more pressure to produce at a higher level. Players will, as well. I’m not sure paying players 50k a year is going to be a game changer in every case. Money brings more temptations and opportunities to get lazy and into trouble. What effect will it have on other players who do not have NIL money? How will they perform? Will jealousy and resentment become a divisive factor within the team?

I know that I’ll be rooting for teams that have sold their souls to gain fair advantages to fail. Watching Texas and A$M fall below expectations is almost as much fun as watching OSU exceed expectations. A 500 season in the SEC may be the best they can hope for. Big money donors will not like that, and will be less patient to endure mediocre results.

Another good reason to wear OSU gear while traveling

While stopped at a gas station near Indianapolis today a tall dude in a Miami shirt notices my Oklahoma State shirt. Asks if I went there. With a big smile he says a good buddy of his transferred to play center this year until he got hurt. Danny Godlevske I proudly proclaim. His smile grew wider. We both lament him getting hurt. Anyway - marketing the brand never hurts. That’s why I always try to wear the brand while traveling - especially in airports!
