Ok folks, so we've had 4 duals to get a look at our Cowboys under Coach DT. I'm not gonna break down every match, there's been enough of that. Let me say I think it's interesting some of the takes we're seeing on here. I definitely think as a whole OUR EXPECTATIONS are much higher which is a great sign of increased passion and interest.
IMO I think some people thought DT would turn OSU into psu in 6 months lol. Had a buddy say that to me Sunday. He had missed the road duals but had heard enough he thought we'd tech/pin everyone this weekend (he was joking of course). But we both agreed that the program is on a huge upswing but the whole "DT EFFECT" will be months and years in the making.
I will discuss a couple of things and share my thoughts. I still think 33 is WAY up in the air. First weekend Reece looked better against a tougher opponent by a mile. This weekend we saw a lot of versatility from Cael and that's great to see. Cael not getting to wrestle Chlebove only complicated the coaches decision. We REALLY need to see both of them against tougher competition. I would think there will be a wrestle-off to see who goes to Vegas. May the best man win.
Not worried about Carter or Tagen for that matter just yet. I think with Tagen, he probably didn't nail his cut Friday and it showed. Let me add, hats off to Branch and Co. they came to wrestle! Kennedy works closely with these two and I think some of what we're seeing is them TRYING to integrate a lot of new stuff into their game and it hasn't fully clicked yet. I think you can see this in several guys actually. Sort of stuck between the old staff and the new. I would include Spratley in this with some of the hesitation to shoot earlier in his matches. Carter definitely needs to battle harder, he's got more skills then either of the opponents he wrestled this weekend. He finishes more of those TDs and he's 4-0.
