Where do you gamble and what games do you play?

What hotel do you choose?

What places are must have for food?

What non x-rated nightlife options are on the agenda?

What shows do you see?

Going in June and looking for new recommendations and ideas.

Bellagio was really nice. The suites at the flamingo are fantastic imo

Black jack and pai gao (so?) poker at bellagio or mirage.

Nightlife=drink and people watch

My wife really liked the Sugar Factory as a restaurant and funky drink place.
We really enjoyed the show 'Absinthe'. Small venue, close quarters, somewhat adult, but very cool.
Hash House A Go Go for breakfast

Went in February and stayed at Bellagio. Definitely the nicest one I've stayed in there. Hash House A Go Go is a must. Found a memosa bar in a Mexican joint in the canal shoppes between Palazzo and Venetian. Something like $11 for all you can drink memosas until 11-12. Had the most fun gambling at Luxor, Bellagio, and Hooters (cheap)

Room at Encore - Salon Suite (pricey but worth it)
Breakfast outside at Moni Ami Gabi - Great Bloody Mary Bar and love the salmon Benedict
Spa at Mandarin - Dry sauna to sweat out the booze from previous day and great place to get your back rubbed
Lunch - Couple of good places at Mandarin but usually meet the ol' lady back at Encore since she spends a couple more hours at the spa than I do
Pool time - Encore pool
Dinner - Lots of great places at Wynn/Encore, SW Steakhouse and Lakeside offer you the opportunity to see a 12'-tall frog perched up on a waterfall sing Friends In Low Places (and I sing my ass of every time). County Club is also great (sit outside and enjoy a good view of #18). Bellagio has a good steakhouse (can't remember the name) and my favorite restaurant in the entire world is Le Cirque (Bellagio) but you have to get one of the tasting menus and the wine pairing ($$$ but worth it). Alize at the top of the Palms is also great but the casino there is the suck.
Shows - Absinthe, O, and Zumanity (we're not big show people)
Gambling - I like the feel of the Wynn and Encore but the odds for Blackjack and Craps (only games we play) are poor unless you play at least $50 on BJ (to get 3:2 on BJ's) and $25 pass line and come bet (to get 3x, 4x, and 5x on odds) in craps. Next best for me is Bellagio. Craps tables get super crowded but it's a team game so I get over it. Get up early next day and grab a coffee and Bailey's at the BJ tables.

Rinse and Repeat.

Peppermill Grill for breakfast. It's worth the taxi ride.

The last few times the wife and I have went we have stayed at the Trump. Very nice. Downer is there is no gambling, but that also keeps the traffic to a minimum. The Wynn is across the street if you need a quick Blackjack fix while the wife is getting ready. Has a shuttle that runs continuously that will take you where you want to go.

All of the high-end restaurants really all blend together. Nothing really stands out as being much better than anything else.

What hotel do you choose?
I'm partial to the Aria, myself. I've stayed there a few times while at a conference and I like the rooms a lot. I think they're a little pricier than most of the other hotels on the Strip, though. Might not be the best option if you aren't planning to spend any time in the room.

I'm taking the Mrs. for a stay in the Sky Suites for a delayed birthday / early anniversary gift in mid-June. Looking forward to it.

  • Aria - great rooms.
  • All the major casinos suck if you play blackjack - but the Wynne still pays 3:2 and stand on soft 17 for $50 limit tables. I don't play much these days but about the best odds you are going to find.
  • Penn & Teller - hands down best magic/comedy act.
  • Enjoy the Cirque shows - pricey but a entertaining.
  • IMO - the food is fine about everywhere. Better restaurants at home.

I rarely see people mention it but the Four Seasons is far and away my favorite place to stay in Vegas. It is comprised of the top 4 floors of Mandalay Bay but has a completely separate entrance and set of elevators. To me it has all of the benefits of a top level hotel with none of the drawbacks that come from staying in a casino. However, with it being located on top of Mandalay Bay you have great casino access. You also have access to the Four Seasons pool which is the best in Vegas if you are looking for a place to actually relax along with access to the Mandalay Bay pool if you want the typical Vegas pool experience. It might not be the place I would stay if I were going with a group of guys but if I am taking the wife that is the only place we will stay.

Breakfast - second Mona Mi Gabi in Paris, sit on the patio even if you have to wait
Sunday Brunch - Border Grille in Mandalay Bay, they have unlimited Memosas and Bloody Marys along with an unlimited tapas style brunch, really good
Other favorites - Lotus of Siam, Tacos El Gordo, Hash House a Go Go, Peppermill

Personally I am not a fan of the high end steak houses. I can get equal food and service at the Ranchers Club for 1/3 of the price. It's just not worth it to me but your mileage may vary.
