What is the truth about rand Paul's foreign policy opinions?

He doesn't want to waste blood and treasure on countries/people that either don't give a rats ass about us or down right hate our guts.

Makes sense to me.

He was an isolationist before, but is changing into ???? to get votes.

Wrong. He's never been an "isolationist." That's alarmism being spread by warhawks attempting to minimize him.

I'm an isolationist too. Let me live the life I want. Let my friends and relatives live theirs. Let others in our country live theirs and let those in other countries live theirs. I believe that a strong military secures my freedom (without having concern that some person will walk unchallenged across our border with a suitcase nuke) to live my chosen life. And it's a strong military which is available to go any place in the world and kick the pee out of anyone threatening this country. Let's stay at home and rebuild this country but be ready and able to kick the crap out of those who try to deny us our ability to live peacefully.

The jihadists are destroying the "complacent" world we all would love. Your belief in a strong military cannot be argued; sadly, it isn't an option under this administration. We are in retreat, and the socialist community organizer doesn't have a f'nk clue. Actually, he does; his narcissistic arrogance to create his "legacy" overrides any action deemed "good for the country". We are in deep shit, and he has the shovel to bury.

The jihadists are on the March because the dumbass duo of Bush/Cheney created a huge power vacuum in the Middle East and set the stage for jihadists. Biggest foreign policy blunder in US history.

OMG! Blame Bush/Cheney for everything; you're a genius at spewing D. talking points. Hell, you have a future on MSNBC.

What part of the goat-f*ck foreign policy fiasco have you missed in the last six years; do I need remind you:

UBL dead, AQ decimated, JV, Yemen/blah/blah - success, Iran capitulation, red line in Syria, Russian reset; Moe/Larry/Cheese - I'm the smartest blah/blah.....

Nice try, but this SHIT is all on his watch.

He was on Fox News last night talking about this issue.

I agree completely and with your post below this about all being on Obama's watch. I'm from the Teddy Roosevelt crowd of "walking softly and carrying a big stick". Let others live like they want but have the ability to address problems that others cause which directly affect us. Don't go searching for conflict but don't shy away from it when it threatens us. And when a response is warranted make it swift and harsh. Get in, get the job done and leave. Forget about silly rules of engagement and limitations on who and where you can engage. If you're being attacked from a mosque---level it and move on. If conditions are placed on how the military operates then keep them at home.

How was it looking before Obama inisisted upon a 100% pull out of Iraq, allowed/assisted the overthrow of Qadaffi in Libya, and the ouster of Mubarak in Egypt? Not to mention basing his policy on Iran 100% upon wishful thinking?

It was looking horrible, as it's been for thousands of years.

Either dictators can 'keep the peace' through brutal power, or we can 'keep the peace' through blood and treasure.

Our founding fathers warned as against this stuff.

Amen! This administration's "silly" rules of engagement are meant to preclude any "big stick" involvement lest we offend (Iran/Russia/Muslims/Gerbils/Tri-Delts/Summer's Eve Garglers/Etc.). It's sickening to see his arrogance is still clueless six years into this nightmare.

The last administration which didn't have these silly rules of engagement was FDR's and it is instructive. We (and our allies) kicked the crap out of our adversaries on two fronts in less than 4 years without worrying about rules of engagement or religious sensitivities. War is not the realm for Marquis of Queensberry rules. Once the politicians decide to join the fight then get out of the way and pick up the pieces afterwards. Unfortunately, it has become more about political legacies than the blood of the warriors.
