I have had one hanging around my house for 3 months now. I like keeping him around as he is eating the smaller birds. I think it is him at least and he keeps the stray cats away also. Of course if I didn't live in town he would be easily replaced with a 12 gauge...

Cool birds though.

I heard they eat quail eggs so that is why the stranger I met shot him.

They'll also eat baby snakes, lizards, mice, and other vermin, so aside from the quail eggs, they do some good too.

I had one coming to my back door last spring and could not figure out why until I noticed him flirting with the good-looking roadrunner that he was seeing in my door. I wached him come to the door twice and do his courting dance and mating calls. He brought a lizard one time but I drew the line when he drug a snake up to door. I could never get a picture of him as any movement in the house would send him running.
