Iraq exit strategy

Will there also be a "clear pepsi" part to the build up / exit?

I would rather have a base there than in Germany.

We have too many bases in too many countries already.

NATO/OTAN is what keeps us in Europe. However I would agree that we can shut some of those bases down. We actually stopped using bases in Iceland which made sense, but kept bases in Germany open, but that was due to Germany being used as a stop point for troops going to the ME.

The US still has a commitment to the Europe, but the current administration is not concerned about supporting a NATO obligation to defend member nations. If anything the current admin thinks this is a old ball and chain that is pulling us back.

Anyway, I'm still trying to figure out why we have any need for 1,500 Non-combat troops in Iraq. I guess we need more targets. Or was that why we pulled out in the first place?
