As Predicted, Another Canard Pushed by Obamacare Backers Proves to be False

Glove, do you work? Retired? How do you find time to look up all these conspiracies and read them all and then post them here?

It's not hard to find the lead opinion piece in the WSJ, which was also picked up by several other leading news organizations.

This wasn't really a conspiracy, so much as a flat out lie pushed by the administration, willingly repeated by the compliant media. I and a couple of others pointed out at the time (when Obamacare was in the process of being rammed down our collective throats by Reid/Pelosi/Obama) that it would prove to not be true and some of the reasons why.

hollywood, you and probably 1 or 2 others picked up the tall tale and ran with it.

Oh, it's never a conspiracy, is it? It's always a lie that the rest of the world runs with and a smart, courageous wingnut figures out that "the compliant media" isn't singing the right tune. Whether it's birtherism, global warming, obamacare.... it's always a conspiracy with the you people.

Care to post some right wing predictions about what Obamacare would do to our country? Here are a few:

– REP. JOHN BOEHNER (R-OH): Passage of health reform is “Armageddon” because the law will “ruin our country.” [3/20/2010]

— FRMR. SEN. RICK SANTORUM (R-PA): Health reform “will destroy the country” because, “in the next year or so,” America will have to “dramatically cut the military because we can’t pay for it.” [10/23/2010]

— SEN. TOM COBURN (R-OK): “There will be no insurance industry left in three years.” [10/12/2010]

— REP. MICHELE BACHMANN (R-MN): “On page 16, you can read for yourself that no new health insurance policies can be written once this federal plan comes into effect.” [7/17/2009]

— GLENN BECK: “This is the end of prosperity in America forever … the end of America as you know it.” [11/19/2009]

— SEAN HANNITY: “If we get nationalized health care, it’s over; this is socialism.” [11/2/2009]

— REP. PAUL BROUN (R-GA): “That’s exactly what’s going on in Canada and Great Britain today…and a lot of people are going to die.” [7/10/2009]

— REP. LOUIE GOHMERT (R-TX): “I would hate to think that among five women, one of ‘em is gonna die because we go to socialized care.” [7/15/2009]

— REP. VIRGINIA FOXX (R-NC): “The Republican plan will] make sure we bring down the cost of health care for all Americans and that ensures affordable access for all Americans and is pro-life because it will not put seniors in a position of being put to death by their government.” [7/28/2009]

— SEN. TOM COBURN (R-OK): “I have a message for you: you’re going to die soon…When you restrict the ability of the primary care givers int his country to do what is best for their senior patients, what you are doing is limiting their life expectancy.” [12/1/2009]

— REP. MICHELE BACHMANN (R-MN): “Socialized medicine is the crown jewel of socialism. This will change our country forever.” [11/3/2009]

— HERMAN CAIN: “If ObamaCare had been fully implemented when I caught cancer, I’d be dead.” [8/18/2011]

— NEWT GINGRICH (R): “I think it is a disaster. I think, candidly, Governor Palin got attacked unfairly for describing what would, in effect, be death panels.” [10/11/2011]

— RICK SANTORUM (R): “What got me into this race was Obamacare…I believe, final death knell will be to America of having government control that very critical aspect of our life, which is access to the care that we need to stay alive.” [12/13/2011]

The typical deflection that has nothing to do with the actual subject. When are we actually going to opertae under Obamacare? Or are we going to continue with ad hoc waivers of the most onerous parts ad infinitum?

Here is another quote:

"I will sign a universal health care bill into law by the end of my first term as president that will cover every American and cut the cost of a typical family's premium by up to $2,500 a year."

Sys additionally had all the waivers and favors not been granted and the POS bill enforced as passed, guarantee you those prognostications would be way closer to true than not. The idiot prez is just trying to get out of office without this being stapled to his worthless ass as he and his canine companion leave the WH for the last time.

My premiums have almost doubled and my out of pocket costs have tripled since Obama
Care passed. Please give us ONE example of what anything the President promised about COSTS is true.

Where the hate for Michelle come from? Why attack the wife?

Oh sys...nice that you won't answer any questions but instead pose more. Kind of like uppy does/did.
The canine companion is a hypocritical liar and I wouldn't call it hate, more like a visceral detestment.

@syskatine answer the question with out deflecting you terrible debater.

I was trying to point out that the President promised something that did not come true as a reply to Sys' comments about the many conservative comments that turned out to be embelishments.

It's off point and irrelevant unless it's a fox news or RNC talking point, apparently. Any debate that doesn't revolve around conservative talking points is irrelevant.

Yes, it's totally relevant, because it impeaches the complaining party. You guys are alarmist, afraid, and exaggerate at nearly every turn. We can't believe your fables and panicky theories because the people that point out the deficiencies have showed they have no credibility -- they nitpick everything and blow it out of proportion. Like the above posts prove, conservatives are alarmist and exaggerate Obamacare to the point they're radicalized and don't have a credible voice.

Which "onerous" part are you speaking of?

Okay, this is good.... link please? So what response do you want, why we don't have universal health care coverage?

Well, the employer mandate, for one, which doesn't kick in (as of right now) until 2016 for sall to mid-szie firms, but was supposed to have happened in 2014.

"Onerous" is a stretch, Glove. Health insurance isn't exactly some exotic employee benefit. I have a hard time feeling for employers like Wal Mart that let the taxpayers support their employees. Now THAT is onerous. I wish ALL employers had to provide health insurance. I have for years, and I'm a little guy.

Then why'd they delay it?

They keep delaying for two reasons, one is they know it will be unpopular and expensive and they don't want President Obama to face the heat while in office. Two it is huge bureaucratic night mare that is to big to effectively manage and implement.

Why did Congress fight so hard to exempt itself from ACA, even thoguht the reg. says they must choose a plan within it?

Congress didn't exempt themselves. They found out after the vote and finally reading the bill that Congress was not exempted. So, since they couldn't arbitrarily not comply, they decided to let the taxpayers pay for 75% of its costs. They still have the special wings at Walter Reed and Bethesda Naval Hospital set aside for members of Congress and other top government officials.

Congressional sleaze crosses all administrations. They look out for their own in every way, from health care right to retirement right down to their private gymnasium.... Congress treating itself to something special is now reflective of a president?

You're looking so hard for something to criticize you've totally overrun the play.

Anyone who is a friend of the administration or could somehow do them harm OR could tarnish Obama's "legacy" while he is still in office by creating firestorm about Obamacare. has eithe rgottena waiver or received extra-legislative subsidies.

If Obamacare's so good, why do even those who support the Pres. want a waiver?

This is incorrect. Your first 2 sentences are correct. The rest is wrong. They wrote up a phony application for an exemption stating the Congress employs < 50 people and therfore shoudl be expempt, which the Admin. rubber-stamped. They have the same insurance plan as before.

Sources for any of this congressional waiver stuff?

As I recall the bill was written so that congress people and their staffs had to get their insurance from exchanges. The controversy was that prior to the bill their insurance was a job benefit, and now they would be buying insurance out of pocket. It wasn't a big deal for the rich people in congress, but many staffers are already underpaid.

I was correct throughout. Here's an article from 2013 stating exactly how the Congress was going to get their subsidy and how they did.

You like pointing out where the R's projections haven't come to pass. The response that I am looking for is your acknowledgement that the President's promises didn't come to pass either.
