Anyone planning to sign the recall petition?

Haven't seen a recall petition. The article mentions recalling them in the next election. AG is filing to have it reheard by the state supreme court. That's where it stands today. A lot of barking by some legislators, but don't know where it leads.

  1. No
  2. Why should the GOP play by the rules as to the role of the judiciary?
  3. The USSC. Has already ruled that identical Ten Commandments displays are constitutional to display.

Stone v. Graham
McCreary v. ACLU of Kentucky - these don't look good for those supporting the monument.

Van Orden v. Perry - smart move to copy the design of the Texas version - but without 40 years of history likely fails the secular acceptance criteria laid out in this case.

When 7 out of 9 Oklahoma judges agree on something that is so contrary to the public sentiment, you have to think the argument that this is a religious display will stand a challenge. A shame to waste time and effort on a purely symbolic gesture. Hire a couple of science teachers instead...

It's black and white under the state constitution. The two conservative, rubber stamp, pro-business justices dissented. No reason stated. Presumably placating the conservatives that want that law ignored to accommodate their belief system.

Now watch -- conservatives will take out after the court and portray it as liberal for following a black and white law. Conservatives are whipping up an alarming moral crisis right now.
